Through active engagement, this workshop highlights 5 strategies a facilitator can work toward to strengthen facilitation skills. These skills include preparation, creating a safe environment, being participant-centered, using active engagement strategies, and motivating for action. This presentation is for anyone who wants to lead a group effectively, keep members involved, create real leadership opportunities, and build leadership skills in others. Facilitation skills are helpful in meetings, education, community committees, and presentations.
Objectives: Following our presentation, participants will be able to identify ways to:
  • Prepare for facilitation
  • Create a safer environment
  • Transfer power to the participants
  • Use active learning and engagement strategies
  • Motivate action
