Unraid is a popular replacement for the Drobo file server discontinued in 2023 & a competitor against other small-to-medium scale storage appliances like Synology. The hardware & software of these products is sometimes questionable or at risk for security vulnerabilities, particularly at the lower-end of the market. Is Unraid really a hardware neutral, affordable, and secure platform for distributed Extension computing services?
